Speaker:know that you aren't alone. Motherhood gets hard.
Speaker:Entrepreneurship gets hard. But together, we can
Speaker:do hard things. Welcome to the suite.
Speaker:Hey friend, welcome to another episode. Thank you for being here.
Speaker:So today we're talking about three signs of
Speaker:poor work-life balance. Now, if you've listened to the
Speaker:podcast, Have you followed the brand? You know, I
Speaker:am more of an advocate for work-life harmony. I will
Speaker:link some past episodes in the
Speaker:show description that kind of talks about why.
Speaker:I am an advocate for work-life harmony. Over
Speaker:work-life balance. But I do understand that sometimes.
Speaker:People are searching for answers for why they
Speaker:cannot obtain work-life balance. And I
Speaker:think one of the main reasons why. Is how we're even thinking
Speaker:about this whole concept of work-life balance. And so I'll link
Speaker:some episodes in the show description. So again, you
Speaker:can understand why I advocate for work-life harmony over balance.
Speaker:So go do that if you, if you have not, but.
Speaker:Today. I want to get into three signs of poor work-life
Speaker:balance or harmony. All right. So number one
Speaker:is that you respond to normal
Speaker:situations. In an abnormal way.
Speaker:Now all of these things I have experienced myself. And so I am
Speaker:not. You know, coming on here. Pointing the finger
Speaker:at you and saying, you need to do this. You need to do that. I
Speaker:really just sharing this from. Things that I have experienced. So
Speaker:number one, when you're responding to normal situations in an abnormal
Speaker:way, Many times this shows
Speaker:up as you being irritable or having mood swings.
Speaker:And let's say. For example, it's been a day with the kids, because
Speaker:for me best what it was, it was just a day with the kids, but
Speaker:them just being themselves. Was
Speaker:highly. Triggering to me in how it's a very
Speaker:irritable. And so this was assigned to me.
Speaker:That my work-life harmony was out of whack.
Speaker:Now I am, I'm sharing these three signs of poor work-life
Speaker:balance and harmony, but I'm also going to give you, some
Speaker:solutions to this as well. So make sure you stick around. And
Speaker:listen to the entire episode. So if you're responding to normal
Speaker:situations in an abnormal way, it could be a lack of arrest. It
Speaker:could be a lack of boundaries. It could be. Um,
Speaker:misaligned priorities. it. It could be. Be overworking. It could be a
Speaker:lot of reasons why you're responding in the way that you are. But
Speaker:this is an indication. Like all of these things that I'm going to share
Speaker:today, it's like red flags, red light flashing, something is
Speaker:off and you need to really address. The deeper
Speaker:issue. Okay. Now second. Sign of poor work-life balance or
Speaker:harmony. Number two is a.
Speaker:Decline and your general health and wellbeing. Now.
Speaker:I'm not talking about. You know, chronic illness or anything like that,
Speaker:but just in your general health. If you are not. Finding
Speaker:the time to. Tend to your health.
Speaker:Or to do things like eat properly
Speaker:or not eat poorly. Whore, you
Speaker:know, If you're not drinking your water, or if you're
Speaker:over consuming. Things that are not the
Speaker:best for you like sugars and, fatty
Speaker:foods or processed foods. Um, if you are
Speaker:not taking the time to move your body.
Speaker:Again, this could all be an indication that you might be
Speaker:stressed. You might be overworked. And that something
Speaker:is just out of alignment and not.
Speaker:Right. And again, red flag. Red
Speaker:light flashing. We need to figure out what the deeper issue
Speaker:is. So in a past episode, I talked about I'll link
Speaker:it in the show description. I talked about how I
Speaker:eliminated sugar from my diet. Because.
Speaker:Well for a few reasons, but I realized that I was over
Speaker:consuming it. Because of stress and I was not
Speaker:handling my stress properly. And so the way that I was
Speaker:handling it. Was to, you know, eat sugar. Sugar is like
Speaker:a comfort food. Instead of really addressing the deeper
Speaker:issue, which was the stress. And so
Speaker:that. Cost issues with my health. Like
Speaker:nothing crazy, but. You know, I felt more
Speaker:sluggish and it caused inflammation,
Speaker:sugar causes inflammation. And so I would have
Speaker:not terrible menstrual cycles, but once I
Speaker:eliminated sugar, My cycle.
Speaker:Improved dramatically. Right. And so. If
Speaker:you are seeing a decline in your general health, we really need to
Speaker:dig deeper and understand why. Why are we not
Speaker:eating properly? Why are we not, you know, drinking our water? Are
Speaker:we too busy? You know, are we too stressed?
Speaker:Um, my therapy, some depression going on.
Speaker:What's the real reason. Okay. And then the third
Speaker:side. Is that you are constantly feeling
Speaker:overwhelmed. Now, I'm not saying you're never going to feel
Speaker:overwhelmed because as number one, a mom. And then as a
Speaker:business owner as well. There will be moments.
Speaker:And situations where you will feel overwhelmed.
Speaker:But if this is a constant thing where
Speaker:you are feeling overwhelmed and say today,
Speaker:Then this is an indication that again, something is off
Speaker:red flag for like flashing. Why am I feeling
Speaker:overwhelmed every day? Something is wrong. Something
Speaker:needs to change. I might need to, let me
Speaker:start getting into the solutions for you for you now. So, if you
Speaker:are experiencing any of the signs. How can you
Speaker:fix it? Now? I talk deeply about this
Speaker:in the harmony private podcast, which is an audio course.
Speaker:That walks you through. It guides you in how
Speaker:to create and achieve work-life harmony.
Speaker:And so it was a six module audio course. And I talk
Speaker:about these things that I'm going to mention now.
Speaker:Can I talk about them in a deeper way in the private podcasts. All right.
Speaker:So would you want to consider our first-year priorities? Have you
Speaker:identified what your priorities are? And are
Speaker:you. Adhering to the priorities that you
Speaker:said. Okay, because there's one thing to know what your
Speaker:priorities are, but are you keeping the priorities, the priority?
Speaker:So for me, I have identified that in my
Speaker:life in general and on a day-to-day basis, my priorities look like
Speaker:this. God. Self. Family
Speaker:business. So. My relationship with
Speaker:God has to be the number one priority. Right? So I have
Speaker:identified that, but if there's a day where my
Speaker:actions don't line up with that priority,
Speaker:then things are out of whack. I'm going to be a little bit more
Speaker:irritable or I might. Operate in my
Speaker:flesh more than in the spirit. Right. And so number one priority
Speaker:is guy. And number two priority is self.
Speaker:And this is number two because I need to
Speaker:be. In a good frame of mind. I need to be in a good
Speaker:state in order to be able to function as.
Speaker:A wife, a mom and a business owner. If I am.
Speaker:Not healthy. If I am not in a good frame of mind.
Speaker:That affects how the family, they are. That affects how the
Speaker:business. Operates. And so I need to take
Speaker:care of myself. Right. And so again, this looks
Speaker:like. nutritional things and physical activity
Speaker:and, whatever. Self care looks like for you.
Speaker:Do that. Because we can't pour from empty cups. And then when
Speaker:I don't. keep self care a priority. Again,
Speaker:I'm more irritable with my children. I don't respond
Speaker:to them the way. That I w
Speaker:like to all the time. I recently posted about how I
Speaker:want it to be a present mom. We hear about being present with our
Speaker:children. Yes, I want to be present, but
Speaker:I also want to be pleasant. And it's hard to be pleasant. when
Speaker:you are lacking in self care.
Speaker:Okay. So identify what your priorities are
Speaker:and, and stick to the priorities, whatever that looks like for
Speaker:you. Okay. So I just share what mine are. To give you an
Speaker:idea. And, and what that looks like. Then
Speaker:also, once you identify your priorities, you want to set your boundaries and you
Speaker:want to have boundaries for. Yourself. You want to have
Speaker:boundaries for your business. you want to have boundaries for. your
Speaker:family. Okay. And the boundaries really just give people
Speaker:guidelines for how to interact. And engage with
Speaker:you. It informs people of what you.
Speaker:will and will not accept. And so sometimes when we
Speaker:don't have boundaries in place, that's when we tend
Speaker:to overwork. That's when we say yes to more than we should say
Speaker:yes to best when we have more on our plate than we need
Speaker:to. That's when in the business they're scope creep and we're doing
Speaker:more than what the contract actually says. And so we want to. make sure
Speaker:that we have these boundaries in place. So that we can keep
Speaker:our work-life balance in our harmony intact.
Speaker:And then another thing that you want to think about is really
Speaker:understanding what your daily rhythm is and creating
Speaker:something that works for you and your family. I
Speaker:have talked about creating a rhythm in past episodes. So again,
Speaker:I'll link that in the show description. But when you're thinking
Speaker:about a daily rhythm, This is not a routine, right. A
Speaker:routine is more rigid. A routine is time-based. As a mom and
Speaker:business, you need something that's a little bit more flexible. You need
Speaker:something that follows a little bit more, something that you can fall in
Speaker:and out of, but you still have a framework so that you can get things
Speaker:done. And in the harmony private podcast, I
Speaker:walk you through how to actually create that rhythm for you and your
Speaker:family. And how you can do it in a way that's going to,
Speaker:um, alleviate and relieve yourself a frustration.
Speaker:And relieve you of that overwhelm that you are feeling.
Speaker:Um, I also talked about in a past episode.
Speaker:How I was feeling very frustrated. Through the
Speaker:day when, I would try to get work done with my
Speaker:kids home with me. And I talked about how I just
Speaker:stopped. Trying to do work through the day. And I
Speaker:shifted my work blocks to the nighttime. And
Speaker:that was really a part of creating the rhythm. That was a part of observing
Speaker:and understanding. The habits of my children and just
Speaker:knowing that okay. Uh, working at night is what works best.
Speaker:This is the rhythm that works for us. So again, if you want to dive
Speaker:deeper into these things into priorities, into
Speaker:boundaries, how to create and communicate your boundaries, how to
Speaker:create a rhythm plus three other modules, make sure you check out the
Speaker:harmony private podcast, but. Again,
Speaker:Three signs that your or your work-life balance. Or
Speaker:your work-life harmony is not intact.
Speaker:Is number one, you are responding to normal situations in an
Speaker:abnormal way. Number two, there's a decline in your
Speaker:general health and wellbeing. And then number three, you are
Speaker:constantly feeling overwhelmed. And if you are feeling any of these things,
Speaker:We need to look to the deeper reason as to
Speaker:why. And how you can kind of restore your work-life
Speaker:harmony is to start looking at your priorities,
Speaker:looking at your boundaries and looking at what your daily rhythm is. All
Speaker:right. So I would love to hear from you. What love to know.
Speaker:If you are feeling any of the signs or if you
Speaker:are just having more questions about how to achieve work life
Speaker:harmony would love to answer any of your questions. Feel free to shoot me a
